A Comparison

I was just looking through all of Eli's pictures and it is crazy how much he has changed in just 5 months! Take a look:

First few days of life:

Update on Eli

Eli will be 5 months in ONE WEEK! I can not believe how time is flying! He seems to be growing and learning new things at warp speed!

Eli LOVES being read to, putting his hands in his mouth, putting anything he can get his hands on into his mouth, Boo, sitting up, standing up, when Mommy and Daddy sing to him, rolling onto his tummy, getting scared, bananas, our phones or anything we are holding onto (which he promptly tries to take).

Eli DOESN'T LIKE his car seat, being tired, peas, avocado, being left alone.

Right now his favorite foods are anything sweet (just like his mama!). He devours Bananas, Apples, and Peaches! We have also recently tried squash, mango, and a few combinations of fruits. I think I am going to have to start mixing fruits in with the veggies so that he will eat decent portions of sweet potatoes, squash, carrots, peas, etc.

Eli has mastered the art of rolling from his back to his stomach, but he hasn't quiet figured out how to get back onto his back. He rolls onto his tummy, plays, scoots, then gets angry because he doesn't want to be on his tummy anymore! It is funny!
While on his tummy he tries so hard to move. He can hold his whole upper body up with just his hands and he can get onto his knees, he just doesn't know what to do from there! People keep telling me to be careful what I wish for, but I really can't wait for him to be mobile! I think it is going to be SO fun! Some moms dread it, but I'm ready!

He doesn't have teeth yet, but he is still drooling like a faucet. He has now started to blow spit bubbles. Sometimes I just leave him naked if we aren't leaving the house, otherwise all of his clothes would be soaked!

His hair is growing in more and more, but it is still pretty thin. Hopefully it stays thin like mine because Daniel's hair is SO thick and hard to control! It's my color, so maybe it will be my texture too!

Eli still sleeps on his tummy and he is SO happy when he wakes up! He doesn't make a sound, but when I look over at the video monitor he will have his head up and be looking around!
When I go in to get him he gives me the biggest smiles as if to say, "Oh there you are mom!" It's my favorite part of the day!

We definitely have a mama's boy on our hands, at least for now! Whenever Daniel holds Eli, Eli always turns to look for me as if to makes sure I am still there! Sometimes I catch him STARING at me. He waits for me to look at him and then when I do he gets the BIGGEST smile! It melts my heart!

I am just blown away at how big Eli looks and how much older he seems already! It's as if I can't blink because I don't want to miss anything!

"Your little hand is wrapped around my finger and it's so quiet in the world tonight... Oh Darling, don't you ever grow up, don't you ever grow up just stay this little.... Oh Darling, don't you ever grow up, don't you ever grow up it could stay this simple...."

Superbowl Weekend

This past weekend the Packers played the Steelers in Eli's first Superbowl! Packers won, but we didn't really care since the Bears weren't playing in it! There's always next year!

Kayla and Chris came for the weekend and it was SO good to see them! We hadn't seen them since October at their wedding (and Eli was only 2 weeks old!). We had so much fun catching up, hanging out, cooking, watching movies, and talking about the future! We really wish that they lived closer so that we could see them more often. We don't have many people here that we can relate to: young, newly married, poor. Haha! So it was nice to actually have hours of real, genuine conversation. It was so fun to see them with Eli too! They are going to be amazing parents one day, but for now they can stay the cool Aunt and Uncle!

We were sad to see them go on Monday morning, but hopefully we will see them in April when we take a trip out to Searcy for Spring Sing!

p.s. Today is Kayla's birthday and I must say, I'm so glad that she was born 23 years ago! She is a beautiful person and an awesome friend! Love you Kayla!
